Student-teachers Spread the Mutt-i-grees® Message

Shannon Coulter, Mutt-i-grees® Peer Trainer and teacher at Fenton Avenue Charter School in Lake View Terrace, CA, is also a part-time Child Development Department faculty member at University of LaVerne and Moorpark College.

This summer, her University of LaVerne student teachers participated in a Service Learning Project integrating social-emotional lessons in their assigned early childhood classrooms and connecting the children to a community organization in need.

The student teachers chose an animal rescue organization, Rescue Me Corporation {Incorporated}, and presented lessons plans to the children about the plight of Mutt-i-grees®. They worked with children to create dog and cat toys and collected donations from generous families and staff members.

Everything was presented to Rescue Me Corporation {Incorporated} at the Camarillo Animal Controls 9th Annual Dog-Gone Cat-a-Strophic Hugs, Slurps & Slobbers Adopt~a~thon. Everyone had a dog-gone good time!
